How to compare flights
Links marked (affiliate link) may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. We only link to partners we work with. We do not show prices: they change constantly, so check the current price on the provider site.
What to check
- Total price including bags and seat selection; low-cost fares often charge separately for both.
- Fare rules: change and refund terms differ a lot between fare types.
- Layover length, airport changes, and whether connections are on one ticket. With separate tickets, a missed connection may be your problem.
- Transit visa rules for any country you connect through.

By region
United States
Compare full-service and low-cost fares; not every airline appears on every search site.
Asia
Low-cost fares in Asia often exclude checked bags, so add bags at booking if you need them.
US in depth
Basic economy fares on US airlines can restrict seat choice, changes and carry-on bags (rules differ by airline, so read the fare details). Fares: TBD, check current prices. Check current fares at Aviasales (affiliate link)
Asia in depth
On low-cost Asian carriers, add checked bags at booking rather than at the airport, and check whether your connection is on one ticket. Need data when you land? Japan eSIMs on SkipRoam.
Dubai & UAE
Check which airport and terminal you use; the UAE has several international airports. Fares: TBD, check current prices. Check current fares at Aviasales (affiliate link)
India
Domestic flights are widely used for long distances; check bag allowances on domestic fares. Fares: TBD, check current prices. Check current fares at Aviasales (affiliate link)
Australia
Distances are long, so plan connections carefully.
Pacific Islands
Fewer flights and less frequent schedules. Book early and allow buffer days in case of cancellations.
Europe
Low-cost fares often use secondary airports. Check airport location and bag rules. Trains can beat short flights.
