Travel insurance: what to check for worldwide trips
We don't list insurers yet: we only link to partners we work with, and insurance partner links are coming soon. Policies and cost depend on your age, trip and home state or country, so read the policy wording before buying.
US travelers
Compare several plans before you buy, and check whether your credit card or health plan already covers you abroad.
Asia trips and long stays
For multi-country Asia trips, check whether the plan covers every country on your route, motorbike/scooter riding (often excluded or limited), and medical evacuation. Prices: TBD, they depend on age and trip.
Going abroad? Sort mobile data too: compare travel eSIMs on SkipRoam.
Dubai & the UAE
Check that your policy covers the UAE and any stopover there, plus medical treatment and evacuation limits. Desert safaris, dune bashing and water sports are often excluded or limited, so read the exclusions. Visa-linked insurance rules and costs: TBD, so check official UAE sources for your visa type.
India
Most visitors need a visa. India's official e-Visa site (checked 1 Nov 2026) lists the eligible nationalities. The process is to apply online with a photo and your passport page, pay the fee online, receive an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) by email, then show it at an authorized immigration checkpoint, where the e-Visa is stamped. Foreigners can also submit an e-Arrival card online within 72 hours before arriving. Check whether your visa type has any insurance requirement (TBD), and check that your policy covers medical treatment and evacuation in India, plus any trekking or adventure activities you plan.
Before you buy
- Check medical limits, evacuation cover and pre-existing condition rules.
- Check whether your credit card or existing health plan already covers you abroad.
- Read exclusions for adventure sports and rental car damage.
